Cats lose beloved volunteer

Geelong Vic Fuller Al Packer1The Geelong Football Club is mourning the loss of one of their own, following the death of long-time volunteer Vic Fuller.

The 79-year-old collapsed at training on Monday morning after suffering a stroke.

Club doctors worked on the 79-year-old yesterday morning until paramedics arrived, but he could not be saved.

Cats CEO Brian Cook said they had lost the "soul of our club" following Mr Fuller's passing.

“We have lost one of the stalwarts of our football club; the soul of our club, one of our people,” he said.

“Vic’s been a volunteer at our club for around 50 years, and he was pretty much every training session looking after the players.

“It’s been a really tough day at the footy club.”

Players and staff were on field while Mr Fuller was treated before training was cancelled and players sent home.

Mr Cook said the Cats would support everyone including Mr Fuller's family.

He was a life member of the club, serving in roles from the VFL men's team manager to doorman for the AFL team.
