Driver challenges cop's authority
A Highton man is facing charges after refusing to give police his name or address after being pulled over for speeding.
The man was allegedly clocked doing 75km/h in a 60km/h zone on the Surf Coast Highway in the early hours of Tuesday.
Officers intercepted the motorist.
However when they asked for his details, the man allegedly told them he did not have a contract with police and was not required to comply.
He is also accused of resisting arrest, but was quickly released when officers confirmed his identity.
Police have reminded motorists as part of the Road Safety Act, they have a duty to produce a driver's licence or learner's permit if requested by an officer.
