Coastal cliff warning

Beach users are being urged to be careful around cliffs on the Surf Coast between Torquay and Aireys Inlet.

Widening cracks at Demons Bluff have sparked concerns of further erosion.

Authorities say there is often no warning on when landslips may occur, and the volume of material that falls onto a beach can be large.

Signs have been put up at the beach, cliff top and boat ramp in the area, urging people to follow the advice for their safety.

Anyone visiting the beaches in the area are also urged not to walk directly under the cliffs.

Fencing has also been installed along cliff top, with users encouraged to stick to the designated tracks.
